Robotics Club Students

Our Robotics Club students are to be congratulated. Vista Heights participated in the 16th Utah Underwater Robotics Competition at the Lehi Legacy Center on Thursday, March 12th 2026. It was our 5th time at the event.

The event was a great success for our Vista group. We sent ten (10) teams and 29 students; it is the largest group we've ever sent to the competition. And we won an award.

This year the design problem was:

A space capsule carrying astronauts has crash-landed in the ocean. The astronauts are trapped inside, and the valuable space cargo they brought back from orbit is still with the pod. Sunken debris from the crash is also polluting the ocean floor. Your ROV must open the hatch, rescue the astronauts, recover the cargo, and clean up the debris. An ‘ROV’ is a remotely operated vehicle. We learned important lessons of teamwork and perseverance along with some technical skills as we sent our robots into the pool water to ‘rescue’ the astronauts.Team ‘Redstone’ won the ‘Most Innovative Design’ award; Team ‘Redstone’ with team members: Brock Stoker, Kayden Pipes, and Cordin Eddie.

Hooray for Vista Heights Robotics!
