Starting this school year, students who qualify for reduced-price meals will receive school lunch at no cost, thanks to Utah House Bill 100.
Families must apply for the program each school year, starting August 1. We will post another reminder then.
Under this new law, the state will cover the cost of breakfast and lunch for students who qualify for reduced-price meals.
This means families who previously paid $0.30 breakfast and $0.40 for lunch will no longer pay anything if they qualify.
Even if your child received free or reduced meals last year, a new application is required to continue those benefits. That application will be available on August 1, and we will send additional information at that time.
Students approved for free lunch will continue receiving meals at no cost. Those who qualify for reduced meals will now receive free lunch once their application is approved. No additional paperwork is needed beyond the standard application.
This change is a big step forward in supporting student health, focus, and success. Please help us spread the word and encourage families who may qualify to apply starting August 1.
