Alpine School District has earned the Partners in Learning Certificate from Sutherland Institute.
The Utah non-profit announced the certificate project to recognize school districts that excel at making their websites parent-friendly, specifically in how they share information about curriculum. Alpine School District was among the first to be recognized for transparency and access.
"Parents are our partners, and we are committed to maintaining maximum transparency about what students are learning and how we make decisions about the materials we use to teach." said Rich Stowell, Alpine School District Director of Communications.
The rubric was designed to capture a robust yet flexible approach to sharing curriculum information on a website, allowing districts to meet this standard in various ways.
Alpine met all eight requirements:
Information about how parents can access curriculum
Policies related to curriculum, challenges, and sensitive materials
Policies easily accessible
A dedicated webpage for curriculum
Easily accessible webpages related to curriculum
Curriculum organized by grade-level and subject online
Web pages are in working order with no broken links
Linked to Canvas on district homepage
With the launch of our new websites on July 1, we will continue our efforts to keep parents informed.
