Lake Mountain School District has been selected by the Utah State Board of Education as a recipient of an APEX Center Planning Grant for fiscal year 2027.

The Applied Professional Education Experiences—or APEX—Grant Program supports the development of profession-based learning centers that connect classroom instruction with real-world workforce experiences. These centers are designed to help students explore career pathways, develop hands-on skills, earn industry-recognized credentials, and prepare for success in college, career, and life.
Lake Mountain is one of nine local education agencies selected to receive a planning grant. The planning process will allow the district to explore how an APEX Center could serve its students while aligning educational opportunities with regional workforce needs, Utah’s career and technical education goals, and partnerships with local industries and community organizations.
Across Utah, 22 local education agencies received approximately $99 million in planning and implementation funding through the program. Grant proposals were evaluated through a competitive review process that considered industry and community partnerships, workforce alignment, sustainable program models, and measurable student outcomes.
This grant represents an important first step toward creating innovative, career-connected learning opportunities for Lake Mountain students.
Additional information and updates will be shared as the planning process moves forward.
