At the most recent Alpine School District Board of Education meeting, a major milestone was reached for the Eagle Mountain community. The Board officially approved the name of the new elementary school set to open for the upcoming school year.
We are proud to introduce Juniper Basin Elementary — home of the Falcons.
This decision reflects more than just a name; it represents the community's identity, values, and shared vision.
The name Juniper Basin carries deep meaning. Juniper trees are known for their resilience, sustained by deep tap roots and expansive lateral roots. They often grow in stands — together — where younger trees are protected and nurtured by those more established. This natural model of strength, connection, and support mirrors the kind of educational environment Alpine School District strives to create: one where students are grounded, supported, and empowered to grow.
In addition, Juniper Basin pays tribute to the legacy of Cedar Valley. It honors the history and lasting impact of Cedar Valley Elementary and the broader community, preserving a sense of continuity as the district continues to grow and evolve.

The school’s mascot, the Falcons, draws inspiration from the American Kestrel — a small but powerful bird known for its agility, focus, and remarkable vision, including the ability to see ultraviolet light. These characteristics symbolize the aspirations we hold for every student: to be focused, resilient, and capable of achieving great things. The connection is especially meaningful in a community that actively supports local conservation efforts, including the Eagle Mountain Kestrel Project.
Located centrally within the valley, Juniper Basin Elementary is positioned to serve as a welcoming hub for students and families, fostering connection, belonging, and academic excellence.
As we look ahead to the opening of Juniper Basin Elementary, we are excited to welcome students, educators, and families into this new chapter. Together, we will build a school community rooted in strength, guided by purpose, and inspired to soar.
