students learning together

Sometimes the simplest phrase can be the most powerful.

That’s how board members describe the new Aspen Peaks mission statement.

“Every Child, Every Day,” was unanimously adopted this month as a statement of purpose that will guide the district for years to come.

“Defining our overarching purpose helps us focus on why and how we build something before we get too far into what we're building,” said Board Member Jason Theler. “Developing a purpose statement helps ensure that future decisions this board makes are measured against and aligned with some fundamental priorities.”

“Students are at the heart of everything we do,” said Superintendent Dr. Joel Perkins. “This statement will continually remind us of that focus, and help Aspen Peaks educators do what’s best for students, from district administration, to operations, and in every classroom.”

Over the coming months, the mission statement will guide decisions in all departments, including teaching, learning, safety, and community engagement.

“Its simplicity and clarity are incredibly powerful,” said Perkins. “As we build Aspen Peak School District, this statement will be a constant reminder of whom we serve.”

“We’ve had lots of conversations with parents and other community members about our focus," said Amber Bonner, board vice president. “and the whole purpose for our organization's existence is to serve children and to serve the children of our community.”

District leaders say that this mission isn't just a tagline, it’s a daily commitment to the future of every single student.
