Some families who live in the boundaries of Barratt and Deerfield Elementary schools have been wondering where their students will go to school after the dissolution of Alpine School District.

The boards of education of Aspen Peaks and Timpanogos school districts sent a letter today to parents of students who currently reside in Pleasant Grove and live within the boundaries of schools that will be in Aspen Peaks School District.

The letter explains the future boundaries of the affected schools, and invites parents with concerns to share their thoughts in an online form.

“We look forward to working with parents in Pleasant Grove and we understand that parents make school decisions for a variety of reasons,” said Dr. Joseph Jensen, superintendent of Timpanogos School District.

According to the letter, the following will be in effect beginning July 1, 2027:

  • Deerfield students will be boundaried to Manila Elementary

  • Barratt students will be boundaried to Mount Mahogany Elementary

  • Junior high students will be boundaried to Pleasant Grove Junior High

  • High school students will be boundaried to Pleasant Grove High School

Parents will be able to choose to keep their students enrolled in Aspen Peaks schools after July 1, 2027. The Aspen Peaks Board of Education will honor those out-of-boundary requests.

“Students come first. Whether those students are in Aspen Peaks School District or Timpanogos School District, we all share in the responsibility to provide for excellent education opportunities,” said Joel Perkins, superintendent of Aspen Peaks School District. “The partnership and collaboration between the two districts is a testament to the commitment we have for all students and families.”

The letter also stated:

“We are committed to knowing your child, supporting their growth, and helping them thrive. We respect that families make decisions based on many factors. We encourage you to choose what is best for your student.”
